We hired them for our wedding reception in Fargo several weeks ago and were absolutely mortified by the quality of the service we received. I was an event planner for many years and Oven Door was definitely the worst caterer I have ever worked with. I will NEVER recommend them to anyone.

The owner met with us several days prior to the day of the reception but did not deliver our meeting result to his staff. He made an appearance three hours before the reception to help setting up the tables but left shortly after that. So, instead of greeting and mingling with our guests, my husband and I, i.e. the groom and the bride, had to personally instructed a bunch of clueless servers what to serve and how to serve the food. We had an outdoor reception under a tent in the front yard, and the caterer was set up in the kitchen inside of the house. Half way through the event, it started to pour outside, but the servers showed no sign of slowing down or covering the food up with something, or anything. They kept walking out of the house with uncovered food and served it to our guests, even if the food was already soaked by the cold wet rain. We provided them with umbrellas to block away the rain, but they refused and got upset at us. Obviously it was too inconvenient for them to hold an umbrella while serving food, even if it meant that the stuffed pork would be drenched in cold rain. When we spoke our concerns to the lead lady of the staff, she told us that she was just there to help the owner out and could not really manage the servers. To further show how unprofessional Oven Door was, when my husband and I finally sat down after making sure that all our guests got their food, we realized that WE HAD NOT BEEN SERVED! Correct me if I was wrong, but I thought the groom and the bride usually get served first and then the guests.

To be fair, the food was tasty. However, the horrible service quality is just not worth the price. We are very disappointed at the owner and his inability to keep his word to his customer. He seemed like a nice and sincere person, but he was reluctant to own up the chaos at our event, to assume responsibility of the mistakes his staff had made, and to contact us and give us an explanation. He surely did cash the check on time though.
